Asante Kotoko will aim to reclaim the top spot in the Ghana Premier League by hosting Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors dropped to second after a midweek draw against Young Apostles in Wenchi, extending their unbeaten run to four matches.

The two sides last met in October 2024, playing out a 1-1 draw. Kotoko comes into this fixture following back-to-back draws against Samartex and Young Apostles, while Basake Holy Stars are struggling, having failed to win in their last six league outings.

Kotoko have been solid at home, boasting of three consecutive clean sheets in Kumasi, while Basake Holy Stars have defensive concerns, conceding in each of their last nine away matches.

Asante Kotoko have won 11 of their 22 league games this season, drawing six and losing five, scoring 24 goals while conceding 14. Basake Holy Stars have won six of their 21 games, with six draws and nine defeats, netting 21 goals and conceding 23.

A win for Kotoko could see them return to the top of the table. At the same time, Basake Holy Stars are desperate for a turnaround as they hover just above the relegation zone.

Kotoko’s defensive strength at home gives them an edge, but their attacking efficiency will be key against a side that has struggled on the road.
