    Brits are bracing for 70mph winds and 12 hours of torrential downpours tomorrow as weather warnings have been issued across the majority of the UK.

    A new map reveals the worst-hit areas with large parts of the country covered by the yellow weather warnings.

    Travel disruption across roads, rail and air is expected while some areas may experience flooding as well as loss of power.

    The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warnings for rain and wind in huge parts of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

    The first warnings is due to come into place at 3am tomorrow (Sunday, February 23) with the last due to be lifted at 9pm.

    Parts of central and southern England including London are not covered by the warnings and are expected to miss the worst of the weather.

    South Wales and southwest England will be struck by 12-hours of rain over the course of the day.

    Rain warning are in place from 9am to 9pm and residents have been told to expect travel disruptions including bus and train services.

    Warning also include potential flooding to roads and homes in the area as well as possible power cuts.

    In areas including Plymouth and Exeter, up to 50 to 70mm of water is expected to fall, while in Wales 30 to 50mm is predicted with as much as 90mm at its highest points.

    Another rain warning is in place in Scotland between 7am and 3pm tomorrow, covering Wigtown and Dumfries.

    According to the forecaster, as much as 50mm may fall in some area with residents also being warned of travel disruption and flooding. 

    Between 6am and 6pm wind warnings cover almost the entire of the UK, expect the southeast.

    Gusts could reach as high as 70mph and cause disruption to services such as road, rail air and even ferries. 

    A further wind warning is in place for the majority of Northern Ireland from 3am to 3pm.

    Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said: ‘As we shift from a cold easterly weather regime to milder westerly conditions, the Atlantic air brings with it some potentially impactful weather. 

    ‘Over the coming days, successive weather fronts bring strong winds and bands of rainfall across the UK with a risk some areas, particularly in the west later in the weekend, could see some low or even medium impacts.

    ‘Weather warnings have been issued to highlight the potential for travel disruption, dangerous conditions near coasts and the possibility of power cuts for some. 

    ‘Temperatures are also on the rise as part of this change, possibly peaking at 16°C in sheltered areas to the east and north of high ground today and on Friday, which is well above average for the time of year.’
