The Acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Kwame Kpekpena, has assured staff of his commitment to transforming the company into a more efficient and sustainable power distributor.

Speaking at a special staff durbar in the Accra West region held in his honor, Kpekpena acknowledged past inefficiencies and emphasised the need for collaboration to enhance operational performance.

Outlining his strategic vision, he pledged to work closely with staff to reduce losses, increase revenue, and improve supply reliability using technology-driven solutions.

“Achieving this goal will require transparency, accountability, and financial discipline,” he noted.

To drive this transformation, Ing. Kpekpena announced the establishment of four specialized teams focusing on key operational areas; commercial, financial, network operations, and technology.

These teams will monitor and evaluate the company’s performance to ensure sustainable growth.

The Acting General Manager for Accra West, Ing. Emmanuel Ankrah, expressed the region’s full support for the MD’s vision.

He acknowledged existing operational and logistical challenges but reaffirmed the dedication of staff to delivering quality, reliable, and safe electricity services to support Ghana’s economic development.

During the durbar, Accra West was recognised as the second-best performing region within ECG.

In recognition of this achievement, Ing. Kpekpena presented a plaque to Ing. Ankrah, commending the region for its excellence in operational efficiency, customer service, and sustainable growth throughout 2024.

The Accra West region comprises eight operational districts: Ablekuma, Achimota, Amasaman, Bortianor, Dansoman, Kaneshie, Korle-Bu, and Nsawam.
