The Minister of Sports nominee, Kofi Adams has reiterated that other sporting disciplines other than football will receive attention during his tenure.

Over the years, football has been the priority of various Sports Ministers, leaving the other disciplines now known as lesser-known sports to suffer.

Appearing before the Appointment Committee of Parliament for vetting on Thursday, January 30, Sports Minister designate Kofi Adams stressed that things will change under his leadership.

“We are going to focus a lot more on other sports that are known as lesser-known sports,” Kofi Adams shared.

Addressing concerns about his lack of direct background in sports, the Sports Minister designate assured that he is determined to work hard to improve sports in the country.

“The majority are very happy I have been nominated. I will not disappoint Ghanaians, I won’t disappoint President John Dramani Mahama, and I won’t disappoint myself,” Adams stated.

At his vetting, the Sports Minister designate noted that developing grassroots sports will be a priority of his leadership.

Adams is now awaiting approval from the Appointments Committee to begin work officially as the Minister for Sports and Recreation as appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.
