Ghana’s Black Stars left-back, Gideon Mensah, has expressed confidence that the team is prepared to seize any opportunity arising from potential missteps by Sudan in the final stretch of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

With Ghana’s qualification hopes hanging on results outside their control, the Black Stars must rely on Sudan faltering in their last two matches against Niger and Angola.

Sudan’s results, coupled with Ghana’s own performance, will ultimately determine if Ghana secures a spot at the tournament in Morocco.

The equation is simple but challenging for the Black Stars: they must win their remaining matches against Angola and Niger while hoping Sudan loses both. Even a single draw by Sudan would spell the end of Ghana’s AFCON dreams.

“We are made for this. The journey is not always going to be smooth. We’ve come to a junction where we have to hope and work for ourselves,” Mensah said after the Black Stars’ first training session in Accra on Monday.
