Courage Nunekpeku is the Managing Director of TDC
The Managing Director of Tema Development Company (TDC) Ghana Limited, Courage Nunekpeku, has announced that the company will embark on extensive property and land audits to confirm initial findings on the firm’s lands.
He revealed that TDC lost most of its land to the previous government; therefore, there is a need to conduct the audit.
“All our lands have been sold out; every TDC land is sold out; commercial and residential properties are gone. I conducted an assessment, and they informed me that we have only 23 plots left at Community 24. We are embarking on a property audit to verify this,” he said.
According to the MD, preliminary checks showed that some companies allocated lands do not exist.
Addressing staff at a durbar, he stated, “They sold everything, including reservations; even lands in your backyard were sold, including the union land, Ocean Park, which I was told had deductions made for it.”
Upon assuming office weeks ago, he made a presentation on TDC’s lands to the president. However, when he inspected the lands, he found nothing.
Instead, he discovered portions of reserved lands allocated to companies like Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Volta Aluminum Company (VALCO).
He further mentioned other available lands, including Kaiser Flats, which the company demolished, and spaces within Community One Site Three.
Nunekpeku added that TDC is removing containers and squatters to enhance the area. They plan to construct two 15-storey buildings at Site Three, potentially replicating this at Kaiser Flats.
He also mentioned developing the stretch between Kingdom Books and the highway into shops and offices for rent, increasing TDC’s revenue.
The MD stated that the company’s abandoned 32-room pavilion clubhouse at Tema Community Six would be renovated, and he has consulted professionals, including architects, to determine the best approach.
