Event promoter and CEO of Akwaaba UK, Dennis Tawiah, has clarified why the highly anticipated UK concert with dancehall musician Shatta Wale did not take place as initially scheduled.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on May 14, 2025, Dennis explained that the decision to postpone the event was due to inadequate planning following an overwhelming response from the public after the concert’s announcement.

“We had a proposed plan to host Shatta Wale in the UK and the proposed date which came out was on May 11 but the response we received from the general public was overwhelming so we decided to sit back and replan properly.

“Let me say we never sold any ticket. No ticket was sold. Not a single ticket was sold. What we did was announce that we were going to host Shatta Wale,” he said.

He also noted that Shatta Wale opted to be closely involved in the planning process to ensure the event is done right.

“Shatta Wale wants to be actively involved in this particular promotion. So he has asked all the production team to come to Ghana for proper planning, a new date, and a different venue as well.

“Yes we made the announcement but we never sold any ticket. Shatta Wale wants to feel it himself. He said if it’s not right he won’t do it… As I speak to you there is a team in Ghana sitting down with Shatta Wale and planning. Very soon there is going to be a new announcement,” he added.
