As concerns grow over the declining quality of sound production in Ghana’s music industry, veteran producer Appietus has emphasised the need for experienced professionals to step in and share their knowledge with the next generation.

Speaking on Joy FM, Appietus noted that many young producers today lack the foundational skills required to produce high-quality sound.

According to him, this is a key reason why some of their work falls short of professional standards.

“My feeling is that we the professionals have to come together and help these guys. Maybe all of us will decide that we are going to put together a masterclass to help these younger guys.

“I feel that they want to know because people keep asking me ‘Oh Appiah, the song you did 20 years ago, anytime I hear it, the sound quality is good, why is it that I don’t have mine in that manner?’ And they keep buying some equipment and software that is not helping them,” he explained.

Appietus further noted that without understanding the fundamentals of music production, upcoming talents will continue to struggle, no matter how many tools or software they buy.

“They need to understand what they are doing first but they don’t. So, if we don’t help them… help them means let’s do some masterclass.

“Obviously, we are going to get paid. If the government is going to come in, the Kwame Yeboahs, the Zapp Mallets, JMJ, Ubeatz, everybody, we are all helping these guys, giving them our ideas, we share with them, they will be better,” he added.
