Head of Public Relations for Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has cleared the air on why Stonebwoy was not visibly present or involved in Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Homecoming concert held on September 27, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The concert, which saw performances from top Ghanaian acts including Shatta Wale and Efya, became a major topic online after fans noticed Stonebwoy’s absence.

Many social media users claimed the award-winning Dancehall artiste had deliberately refused to show support for Sarkodie’s show.

However, speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Vida explained that Stonebwoy’s team rather made several deliberate and strategic sacrifices to support Sarkodie’s event from behind the scenes.

According to her, their actions were motivated by respect for Sarkodie and a desire to give him full media attention before, during, and after his concert.

She revealed that the BHIM team had initially scheduled to announce ticket sales for Stonebwoy’s BHIM Festival on September 26, a day before Rapperholic Homecoming.

But to avoid clashing with Sarkodie’s publicity, they chose to postpone the announcement entirely.

“There were sacrifices we made as Stonebwoy’s team because of Sarkodie’s concert. Ahead of the BHIM Festival, which is scheduled for December 26, we had planned to officially announce the event on September 26 so we could have exactly three months to the festival. But because Sarkodie’s show was on September 27, we decided to hold on. We wanted him to get all the media attention and publicity he deserved.

“When Sarkodie finished his show, we were supposed to make our official announcement, but we held on again because we felt he should still enjoy the attention. Post-event conversations and analysis are also important, so as a team, we decided to wait for him to get that mileage before officially announcing the BHIM Festival,” Vida stated.

Vida further noted that she found it difficult to understand the criticism directed at Stonebwoy, emphasizing that the BHIM team genuinely supports other artistes in the industry.

She emphasised that their decisions were made out of mutual respect and understanding of the entertainment ecosystem.

“We have everyone at heart because, in this ecosystem, you can’t just play Stonebwoy’s songs from start to finish. You have to let others have their moments too. Even when you look at the genre we do, Reggae, Dancehall, and Afro-Dancehall you cannot really compare it to rap. That’s why it’s difficult for me to understand why people are saying he intentionally didn’t support Sarkodie,” she added.
