Co-Founder and Managing Director of the International Community School (ICS), Dr Charles Yeboah, has revealed that he and his team invested millions of dollars into building the school long before considering owning personal homes.

In an interview on the Konnected Minds Podcast, aired on June 27, 2025, Dr Yeboah shared how committed they were to the school’s vision and growth.

According to him, over a 10-year period, they invested more than $4 million into ICS while moving between four different homes, choosing to delay personal comfort in order to grow the institution.

He said people often questioned why he would pour so much money into developing a school without first securing a house for himself.

His response was simple; “they were not prepared to use funds meant for business growth on personal luxuries.

“In Kumasi, we invested over $4 million in the school before we ever built a house. We lived in four different homes in 10 years, and people would come to the campus and say, ‘Hey, you’ve spent so much money here, but you don’t have a house.’ I told them we could wait because we weren’t ready to showcase a beautiful house built from capital that should have been used to grow the business.

“Showing success could wait. Even though the school raised quite a bit of capital, we didn’t even buy ourselves a brand-new car for the school. We could have done that, but we didn’t want to get comfortable too early,” he said.
