Black Sherif has confirmed that he submitted a nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Speaking with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, the award-winning artiste revealed the categories for which he filed. “Yes, we did, we filed for African Music Performance and Global,” he said.

“I will be happy if they nominate me, but like I said, it doesn’t even shift me if I am not nominated. I am not touched, I am not pushed.”

He also expressed optimism about Ghanaian musicians earning Grammy recognition in the future, highlighting the country’s growing music industry.

Earlier in the conversation, Black Sherif stressed that while awards are meaningful, his focus remains on creating music and building an authentic connection with his listeners.

He is not the only Ghanaian artiste to pursue Grammy recognition this year. Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has also submitted a nomination for consideration.

The nominees for Best African Music Performance (2026) include Love by Burna Boy, With You by Davido featuring Omah Lay, Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin, Gimme Dat by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid, and PUSH 2 START by South African artist Tyla.
