Jordan Ayew, captain of the Black Stars, has addressed recent calls for changes to Ghana’s squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.
Speaking to the media, Ayew emphasized confidence in the current roster, noting that players who participated in the World Cup qualifiers have performed admirably. “I think the players who played during the qualifiers have done very well. I don’t think we need any further additions. I believe we have a good team, and as time goes on, we are improving,” he said.
His statement comes amid public debate and speculation over potential late additions to the squad, as fans and analysts weigh the need for experience versus fresh talent ahead of the global tournament.
Ayew’s remarks signal strong support for team continuity and morale, suggesting that head coach Otto Addo and the technical team may retain the core group of players who secured qualification.
The Black Stars are now focused on fine-tuning their preparations, with training camps and friendly matches planned in the lead-up to the tournament. Ghana have been drawn in group L alongside, England, Croatia and Panama.
