Gospel music group Team Eternity has revealed their reasons for constantly not appearing on the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) stage.

In an interview with Nii Noi on Hitz FM, the group explained that their absence at the 2024 and 2025 editions of the awards was not intentional but due to circumstances beyond their control.

According to the group, in 2024, after their hit song ‘Defe Defe’ earned them an invitation to perform at the awards, an emergency came up the night before the event, making it impossible for them to confirm their participation.

The group said that even though they understood the fans’ disappointment, the emergency was unavoidable, and they had been transparent with Charterhouse about the uncertainty of their appearance.

“So that one, we had a serious emergency, like the night before the main night (TGMA night). It was 50/50, but we don’t want to go into details about the emergency. We told Charter House that if we were able to sort it out, we would come, and if we were not able to sort it out, we couldn’t come, and they knew about it,” they explained.

Fast forward to the 2025 TGMAs, Team Eternity was once again approached to perform. However, the situation this time was a matter of scheduling.

Initially, when organisers announced May 3, 2025, as the date for the awards, the group mentioned they had already made arrangements to travel out of the country for the entire month.

Later, when the date was rescheduled to May 10, they stated that they were already booked for a production in London on that same day.

“You know, TGMA changed their date. At that time, we were supposed to be in London that whole month, so that’s what happened. When they changed the date, that day, we were booked for a production, so we couldn’t do anything about it. On the first date, we were supposed to be in London, and on the second date, that’s the date of the recording,” the group clarified.
