Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe believes Ghana’s strong showing at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has adequately prepared the team for their crucial encounter against Egypt.

The two sides are set to face off in the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 WAFCON tournament. The first leg will be played in Egypt on October 20, with the return fixture scheduled for October 28 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Cudjoe, speaking to Citi Sports, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, citing the experience gained from their campaign in Morocco.

“They [Egypt] are also going to be a good test for us, but I feel like we’re just ready. I feel like this tournament has given us the upper hand to build on something,” Cudjoe said.

The Black Queens secured a bronze medal at the 2024 WAFCON — their best finish since 2016 — and are now setting their sights on reaching the semifinals of the next edition, which would also secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
