The Member of Parliament of Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider his decision to revoke the appointments of some public sector workers appointed by the pervious government.

According to him, this does not set a good precedent and does not show good faith on the part of the government.

Speaking to GhanaWeb’s George Ayisi, the MP said the revocation of the appointments leaves affected people unemployed, making their livelihoods tougher than it already is.

He said; “President John Mahama said he would be a president of the people. We are not sowing good seeds and I pray the president considers this decision to ensure that all those who have been employed in these institutions are made to go back home.”

Yaw Boamah intimated that these matters could be challenged in a court of law and this might not favour the government.

“People can go to court and challenge some of these things and people can go to court to challenge some of these things and there will be issues of a judgment debt against the government,” he said.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, recently issued a directive that all public sector appointments and recruitments made after the December 7 elections be annulled, citing concerns about non-compliance with good governance practices and principles.

The move has sparked significant debates, with many questioning the timing and intentions behind such a decision.
