Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has clarified that Nsoatreman F.C have not notified them about their decision to pull out from the Ghana Premier League.
He noted that his conversations with GFA President Kurt Okraku and General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo indicate that they have not received official communication from Nsoatreman regarding withdrawal from the league yet.
The GFA ExCo member stated that until the GFA is informed about Nsoatreman pulling out of the league, such reports should be disregarded by the public.
“No such communication has come to the GFA. As I spoke to the General Secretary, he said he didn’t receive any communication from Nsoatreman to that effect.
“I’ve also spoken to the president a few minutes ago, and none of them has confirmed receipt of such communication. Maybe they threw that into the media, or maybe it’s just a rumor,” he said.
Acheampong made these comments when he visited the family of the deceased Kotoko fan, Yaw Frimpong, well known as Pooley, who was stabbed during a melee at the match between Nsoatreman and Kotoko on January 2, 2024.
Reports emerged that Nsoatreman had withdrawn from the Ghana Premier League due to the controversies.
In light of the incident, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have banned Nsoatreman from using their home venue and initiated a probe into the violent incident to identify and punish the culprits.
