Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has praised new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz for introducing a more intense and disciplined approach as the team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking about life under the experienced Portuguese trainer, Mensah admitted the players are still adapting to Queiroz’s demanding methods, both on and off the pitch.
“Every coach has his own way of working. He has his own unique way of working, which comes with the intense training sessions that we are not used to yet and how we behave when we are in the hotels and stuff,” Mensah said.
The left-back believes the stricter environment and higher intensity could benefit the Black Stars ahead of the global tournament. According to him, the team will need that level of discipline and commitment to compete strongly at the World Cup.
Queiroz recently opened camp with a provisional squad as Ghana intensify preparations for the tournament in North America. The Black Stars are expected to play Wales in a friendly before opening their World Cup campaign against Panama in Group L.
