Several hundred delegates attended the opening cocktail event at Chan Chan Latino, a festive club located in the Southwest locality known as Santa Fe. A house band was playing a variety of Latin music styles while guests were greeted with mojitos upon arrival.

A variety of appetizers were served, including empanadas, chicharrones, barbecued, pork, and plantains, just for starters.
