The much-anticipated World Boxing Council (WBC) International Bantamweight bout between Zambia’s David Mwale and Michael Decardi Nelson from Ghana has been postponed to June 21, 2025.
The Reigning African Boxing Union (ABU) Bantamweight Champion, Davy Mwale said he remains focused after the much talked about WBC International Championship bout against Ghana’s Michael Decardi Nelson was postponed to June.
The WBC bout has officially been rescheduled from May 24 to June 21, 2025 at Government Complex in Lusaka.
Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) attributed the change to technical issues from sponsors and the WBC, but reassured stakeholders that preparations remain on track.
Mwale welcomed the postponement with confidence and optimism, noting that it gives him the opportunity to fine tune on his weaknesses.
“I have been training for this fight since last year to become a world champion and the postponement will give us more,” he said.
The camp of Nelson was not much enthused with the postponement but hope to wait and fight a good bout.
Coach Elvis Robertson said the change in date will not affect them in any way because they have prepared both physically and mentally as well as have the morale to fight
