Presidential candidate for The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, has stated that citizens spending their time watching football is not a good investment.

In an interview with GTV, the independent candidate explained that this habit takes away valuable time from citizens, reducing their productivity.

“I think that if you spend two hours watching football almost every two days, in a year, you’d have spent 1,000 hours or 500 hours of your time watching football. Meanwhile, someone is getting paid $500,000 a week, and you watch them for free while paying with your hours. I don’t think that is a good investment because your time is your most important asset,” he said.

However, the aspiring presidential candidate offered a solution, suggesting ways to integrate citizens into the football industry instead of limiting their involvement to passive viewership.

“What I would do for sports, which I think we are lacking, is to stop people from just watching and not being a part of the industry. We need to start infusing sports into our educational system by partnering with experts in the field. This is important because we Ghanaians often become footballers through vision rather than skills or training. They need to be properly trained and coached,” he added.
