There were chaotic scenes outside the Amasaman High Court on Tuesday, July 15, as Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, was escorted out of the courtroom by security officers after her bail application was denied.

The court ruled against her legal team’s request for bail pending the outcome of her appeal.

In a report seen on citinewsroom.com, a member of Agradaa’s legal team, Dr. Bernard Kofi Asamoah, confirmed the development.

According to the report, he explained that the court refused their request and ordered the Circuit Court to furnish it with all necessary documentation regarding the ongoing appeal.

It should noted that this ruling follows a recent attempt by Nana Agradaa’s legal team’s to challenge her recent conviction.

Many will recall that on July 3, the former traditional priestess turned evangelist was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Evelyn Asamoah, after being found guilty of defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement.

Her lawyers subsequently filed a notice of appeal, arguing that the trial was unfair and the sentence unjust. On July 7, her lead counsel, Richard Asare Baffour, disclosed that a formal petition had been filed at the High Court to overturn both her conviction and custodial sentence.
