Thomas Partey will officially leave Arsenal today Thomas Partey will officially leave Arsenal today

Ghana’s Thomas Partey will officially leave Arsenal today, June 30, 2025, as his contract with the North London club runs out.

And as fans say their goodbyes, a new compilation making the rounds sums up exactly why he’ll be missed.

The video, which has already caught the eye of many Arsenal and Ghana fans alike, shows Partey at his best, breaking up play, calmly receiving the ball under pressure, and picking out clever passes that kept Arsenal ticking in midfield.

It’s a reminder that while Partey wasn’t always the loudest name on the team sheet, he was often the man who made things work behind the scenes.

Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in October 2020 after the club activated his €50 million release clause.

He went on to make 167 appearances, scoring nine goals, and playing a key role whenever fit.

Injuries did interrupt his time in England but when on the pitch, Partey was a reliable presence, calm in possession, strong in the tackle, and smart with his distribution.

The compilation highlights all of this: his ability to collect the ball with an opponent breathing down his neck, spin away, and launch an attack; his knack for stepping into passing lanes to win the ball back; and his vision to switch play or feed forwards into dangerous areas.

His departure comes as Arsenal freshened up their midfield with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi set to arrive and talks ongoing for Brentford’s Christian Norgaard.

Partey’s exit also follows Jorginho’s move to Flamengo earlier this summer.

For Ghanaian fans, the video is another reminder of what Partey brings to the Black Stars when fully fit and trusted in midfield, a calm, composed anchor who does the “dirty work” and keeps the game moving.

At 32, Partey’s next step is yet to be confirmed but reports suggest Barcelona are considering him as an option to strengthen Hansi Flick’s squad.
