Midfielder Thomas Partey has officially joined the Black Stars camp in Accra ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, bringing a fresh wave of attention to Otto Addo’s side.

The Villareal midfielder checked in on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, shortly before word emerged that his court hearing had been pushed to September 15, 2025.

The new date now coincides with Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Villarreal, meaning Partey will be free to focus fully on Ghana’s immediate mission, securing maximum points against Chad and Mali.

Partey’s arrival adds muscle and experience to a squad that began training at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Twelve players, including Antoine Semenyo, Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, and captain Jordan Ayew, took part in the opening session, with Kamaldeen Sulemana also joining in to hand the team a timely attacking boost. Goalkeepers Benjamin Asare and Joseph Anang completed the first group of arrivals.

Partey’s arrival will definitely raise the tempo in camp, with his leadership and midfield command expected to prove vital when Ghana face Chad in N’Djamena on September 4, 2025, before hosting Mali on September 8, 2025.
