Tense moments unfolded after the Super Clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Asante Kotoko won the game 1–0 after striker Morifing Donzo converted a first-half penalty. The Porcupine Warriors were awarded the spot-kick following a clumsy challenge from Amankwah Baafi on Peter Amidu Acquah inside the box.

Accra Hearts of Oak, who were slightly the better side in the second half, thought they had secured an equalizer in the 90th minute through Mawuli Wayo, but their celebrations were cut short by the referee.

Wayo’s goal was ruled out for offside by referee Reginald Collins Amoah, a decision that drew heavy criticisms from Hearts of Oak supporters at the stadium.

The decision did not sit well with some Phobia players, who were seen approaching the officiating officials at the final whistle.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service quickly intervened to protect the referee, anticipating potential chaos.

While the police escorted the referees off the pitch, some Hearts of Oak players attempted to attack the referee but were blocked by the security.

Match officials rushed to the scene to diffuse the situation after struggling to restrain the players.

The tense scenes were widely condemned by football fans and officials, who believe the incident tarnished the image of the league.
