Tensions ran high at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 26, 2025, after Hearts of Oak’s 2-2 draw with Bibiani GoldStars, and passionate fans seized the opportunity to share their frustrations directly with goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

Asare, who had gone five league games without conceding prior to the fixture, was approached by supporters while leaving the stadium in his car.

One fan, speaking respectfully but with emotion, engaged him in a brief one-on-one conversation that reflected the deep passion surrounding the club’s recent performances.

The supporter acknowledged Asare’s efforts and commitment but urged him to show stronger leadership on the pitch, especially as the team captain.

He pointed out that while the goalkeeper had done his best, the defenders needed more guidance and coordination, emphasizing that as captain, Asare had a responsibility to demand more from his teammates.

“We support you, and you have also done your best for us. The defenders have to help you. If you look at the goals we conceded, as the captain, you should talk to the players. If you help Hearts, Hearts will help you. You know we love you; we don’t want any problems, or else your record will be tainted,” he said.

In a calm and humble response, Asare accepted the feedback, noting that such moments are part of football.

He assured the fans that there are many games ahead and promised that the team would continue to give their best.

“What you are saying is true, but it’s part of football. There are more matches left, and we will do our best,” Asare said.

The draw leaves Hearts of Oak in sixth place with 13 points, three points behind leaders Medeama.
