Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice was visibly furious with teammate Thomas Partey after the latter received what has been described as an “unnecessary” booking during the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
In a video sighted by GhanaWeb, Rice was seen shouting at Partey and pulling his arm after the Ghanaian was shown a yellow card that will rule him out of the semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Partey was booked for dissent after nearly clashing with Antonio Rudiger, who had just fouled Arsenal striker Mikel Merino.
The Ghanaian, who had earlier been involved in a tussle with Rudiger, was unhappy with the foul on Merino and confronted the German defender, who had already been booked for the challenge.
Referee François Letexier immediately showed Partey a yellow card for his reaction. It was his second booking across the two legs, which means he will miss the upcoming semi-final clash.
Despite the disciplinary issue, the former Atletico Madrid midfielder was outstanding for Arsenal on the night, as they secured a 2-1 win over Real Madrid.
The victory means the Gunners advance to the semi-finals with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline, having won the first leg 3-0.
