Emotional scenes unfolded at the Chorkor Tea Garden in Accra on Saturday, December 20, 2025, as Ghanaian boxer Ernest “Bahubali” Akushey was laid to rest.
Footage circulating on social media showed the late boxer laid in state earlier in the day, dressed in his full professional boxing attire.
His body was later placed in a white casket as family members, friends, fellow boxers and residents of Chorkor gathered to bid him a final farewell.
Bahubali passed away on September 23, 2025, after suffering complications following a bout, sending shockwaves through the local boxing community.
His funeral, originally scheduled for December 6, 2025, was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The burial ceremony was both solemn and symbolic, celebrating the life of a boxer who rose from the streets of Chorkor to become a beloved figure in Ghanaian boxing.
