In a moment of delight, the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Bagbin, led a group of schoolchildren in singing when the students toured the legislative House on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Holding several placards calling for peace in the December 7, 2024, general elections, the delighted students were led by the Speaker to sing the popular hymn “It Is Well With My Soul,” penned by Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss.

“Mr. Speaker engaged children from some private schools in Parliament today. He spoke on the need for peace and unity for national development and the need for all to uphold the ideals of democracy,” a video shared on the Parliament‘s Facebook page was captioned.

Parliament is currently on break after the Speaker indefinitely suspended the House on Thursday after having recalled members for an emergency sitting.

Ghana is currently preparing for presidential and parliamentary elections to be held on December 7.
