A video of the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, speaking highly of the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has surfaced following his unfortunate demise.

The video, recorded during a visit by Members of the Defence and Interior Committee to the Ministry of Defence on July 3, 2025, shows the ranking member commending the minister for his role in various security issues, including dealing with illegal mining (galamsey), the recovery of some invaded forest reserves, and managing the ethnic conflict in Bawku.

“… It was a zone that, for some years, had some kind of security threats, and you ensured that you sanitized that section and saved our forest. We commend you for that operation and say that we look forward to similar operations as and when needed in our collective interest in saving our environment from illegal mining.

“We also want to commend you on the support you have collectively, together with other sister agencies, offered in keeping peace in Bawku and ensuring that, whenever there’s an escalation, there’s that effort put in place to de-escalate and to ensure the safety of our brothers and sisters in the Bawku zone, while also keeping the morale of the officers and men who are assisting in this operation,” the Assin South MP stated.

In a recent post on his social media, Rev. Ntim Fordjour paid tribute to the late Minister for Defence while recalling their interactions.

“Barely a month ago, we discussed transformative plans to support the Ghana Armed Forces. We met again on other national security priorities. Your impactful service to Ghana in the security and communications sectors will be honored. Rest well, Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah,” he wrote.
