The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has taunted the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over slip-ups by leading figures of the party, mistakenly endorsing him for the presidency instead of their candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking at a campaign event in the Yilo Krobo Constituency, Mahama, a former president, said that NPP leading members can’t keep his name out of their mouths because they have been dreaming about him.

He went on to list instances where NPP leading members, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi); and their vice presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), all mistakenly endorsed him.

“When the leaders of the NPP sleep, the person they dream about is John Mahama. Any night they sleep, it is John Mahama they are dreaming about. And that is why Nana Akufo-Addo says Akufo-Addo/Mahama administration. It came out of his mouth because every day he’s dreaming about Mahama.

“The Ashanti Regional Chairman, he said,’so when you go and vote, vote for John Dramani Mahama’; then said ‘hey’,” Mahama said.

He added, “And just when I was coming here, Odumasi, I saw another video. Their running mate, NAPO. He was saying who they should vote for. So he said, ‘Vote for John Mahama.’ Then they whispered to him, but he didn’t hear. He repeated,’so when you vote, vote for Mahama’; then they said, ‘no, no, no, Bawumia, Bawumia. Bawumia’.”
