Ghana captain Jordan Ayew scored his fifth English Premier League goal of the 2024/25 season, helping Leicester City secure a 2-0 victory over Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

The 33-year-old Black Stars striker netted the Foxes’ second goal in the 44th minute, doubling their lead against the already relegated Saints.

Ayew’s goal came from a well-struck 22-yard effort after his initial free-kick attempt was blocked by the Southampton defensive wall.

The ball rebounded back to him, and he fired a low shot that beat goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, securing Leicester’s first home win since December.

The strike marked Ayew’s third goal in 16 Premier League appearances against Southampton. He was substituted in the 70th minute by Jeremy Monga.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his 199th goal for Leicester, ending a nine-game home goal drought for the club. Despite the victory, both Leicester City and Southampton have been relegated from the Premier League this season.

Ayew has now scored six goals in all competitions for Leicester in the 2024/25 campaign, with five in the Premier League, making him the team’s second-top scorer in the league.
