US-born Ghanaian forward Patrick Agyemang has made an explosive start to his USMNT career.
The 24-year-old striker, following an impressive season with Charlotte FC in the MLS, where he netted 10 goals in 34 appearances, earned his first call-up to the national team in January 2025 under former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Agyemang marked his debut and first start for the USMNT with a goal against Venezuela. On Thursday, January 23, he scored his second goal in as many games for the national team.
The forward showcased his poacher’s instincts by bundling in a cross from close range to put the US 3-0 up against Costa Rica. However, it was his celebration that stole the spotlight.
After scoring, Agyemang delighted fans by mimicking the signature celebration of former Ghanaian captain Asamoah Gyan.
Although eligible to play for Ghana’s Black Stars due to his Ghanaian heritage, Agyemang chose to represent the USMNT and he’s already making a significant impact.
Currently in his second MLS season, he has tallied an impressive 22 goals in 59 appearances.
