The 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards had mixed reactions after Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman was announced as the Player of the Year on December 17, 2024.

Following the announcement, the Moroccan contingent, who were disappointed that their player Achraf Hakimi did not win the award, began to exit the auditorium.

This triggered the Nigerian contingent to hoot at them continuously and make fun of them while they were departing.

During the moment, the contingent were heard singing in chorus, “One by one, they run dey go, congrats Lookman.”

The ceremony concluded with Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman winning the ultimate African Player of the Year Award to crown his sterling performance in 2024.

The Atalanta forward led Nigeria to the finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they lost to host nation Ivory Coast.

He also aided Atalanta in winning the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa League, where they defeated German side Bayer Leverkusen in the finals.
