Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup game against Wydad Athletic Club was marred with a controversy involving assistant coach Prince Owusu and officials of the home team.

According to reports, Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu was thrown out of the Mohammed V Stadium before the game between the Porcupine Warriors and Wydad Athletic Club on Friday, October 24, 2025.

The incident according to reports occurred during the team’s pre-match warm-up when WAC officials accused Prince Owusu of allegedly sprinkling a mysterious substance on the pitch believed to be ‘juju’.

WAC officials who reported Prince Owusu to CAF officials accused him of trying to influence the game spiritually.

In the viral video sighted by GhanaWeb Sports, Prince Owusu was seen springing something on the pitch during the warm-up session.

While Asante Kotoko are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, fans have taken to social media to share their opinion about the trending video.

Meanwhile, Kotoko’s hopes of making it to the group phase of the competition were crashed after suffering a 6-1 aggregate defeat against Wydad Athletic Club.

Kotoko lost 1-0 in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round of the preliminary round of games before losing 5-1 in the return leg in Casablanca.
