Some Ghanaian football enthusiasts have mocked Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong after his failed bid to become a Member of Parliament.

Fans attending the Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on Sunday, December 15, 2024, displayed a banner featuring an image of Frederick Achee receiving an award from a fake United Nations (UN) representative.

The banner was inscribed with the phrase “Honorable w’awe,” which translates to “Honourable, you came last.”

This mockery follows comments by Ghanaian sports journalist Listowel Mensah, who expressed delight at Acheampong’s loss and vowed to celebrate for a week.

Listowel thanked the constituents of Ahafo Ano South East for rejecting Acheampong in the 2024 general election. Speaking on Angel TV, he declared his intention to mark the defeat with a week-long celebration.

“I will host a week of celebration. They called him ‘Honourable’ even before the election. Achee was about to get a V8 [official vehicle] and security detail. God bless the people of Ahafo Ano South East. Their V8s have a different feeling—I sat in Honourable Kobby Woyome’s. Achee was about to receive one, but we’ve cancelled it in the name of Jesus,” Listowel remarked.

Frederick Acheampong contested the Ahafo Ano South East parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but lost to National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Yakubu Mohammed.
