Lionel Messi’s arrival in Colombia sparked unforgettable scenes on Friday evening as the Inter Miami superstar touched down in Medellín ahead of the club’s preseason friendly against Atlético Nacional.

The Argentine icon landed with his teammates on Friday, January 30, 2026, setting off wild celebrations outside the team hotel and across the streets leading to their destination.

What was meant to be a routine arrival quickly turned into a carnival-like atmosphere, as thousands of supporters gathered just to catch a glimpse of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Chants filled the air as fans waved Argentina flags and proudly held up jerseys bearing Messi’s famous No. 10.

Kids stood on barricades hoping for a better view, while others climbed onto nearby structures, phones raised high to capture the historic moment.

Many supporters also wore Inter Miami’s pink colors, showing their excitement to see the MLS side in action.

Security personnel struggled to contain the swelling crowd as excitement reached fever pitch. For many, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see one of football’s greatest-ever players in person.

Messi and Inter Miami are set to face Atlético Nacional at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium on Saturday, January 31, 2026, but the real spectacle may have already begun with his electrifying welcome.
