Ghana Premier League legend Charles Taylor lost his phone to fellow TV pundit Mustapha Dean after losing a bet.

Taylor placed a bet with Dean on Angel TV while previewing Niger’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.

The former Black Stars striker claimed that Sudan would secure at least a draw from the game, while Dean predicted a win for Niger.

Taylor, who was full of confidence, proposed that the two stake their phones on the outcome, with Dean insisting that Niger would beat Sudan.

Niger ended up winning the match, thrashing Sudan 4-0 at the Kegue Stadium in Togo on November 14, 2024.

On the show’s next episode, Dean humbly asked Charles Taylor to do the honourable thing and hand over his phone.

“We have to do the honourable thing,” Dean said.

In response, Taylor said: “I might end up at the police station because my hand could lead me into trouble. I know what he is up to; that’s why he is late. He wants my phone, but you know what? It’s okay.”

Taylor eventually handed the phone to Dean, emphatically stating that if he wins the next bet, no one should talk about sympathy.

“Let me tell you all, from today, if I win any bet, nobody should come here preaching about sympathy.”

After taking the phone, Dean stated he would use it only for playing games.

“I won’t use this phone for anything else. I’ll put a SIM card in it and play games or call the number whenever I’m bored.”
