French footballer Kylian Mbappe produced one of his best performances as Spanish giants Real Madrid made light work of English champions Manchester City in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout play-offs.

Mbappe bagged his first hat-trick of the 2024/2025 Champions League as Real Madrid humiliated Pep Guardiola’s side.

With Madrid having their noses in front following a 3-2 victory from the first leg, the 15-time Champions League winners needed to avoid a defeat to advance to the next round.

Instead of sitting back and defending their lead, Madrid, who sensed the vulnerabilities of Pep Guardiola’s men, went for the jugular and dismantled Manchester City with ease.

The first of Kylian Mbappe’s three goals came in the fourth minute after he lobbed the ball over the onrushing Ederson following a long pass from defender Raul Asencio.

Mbappe got his second on the night by slotting home after dummying and flooring Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol.

Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the 61st minute after unleashing a shot past Ederson with his left foot.

Nico Gonzalez grabbed a consolation for Manchester City, who are now out of the Champions League.

Hat-trick hero Mbappe was named Man of the Match.
