The Black Maidens of Ghana walloped their Ivorian counterparts 5-0 in the semi-final game of the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup on Thursday, December 19.

Ghanaian midfielder Christian Ashiaku scored a hat-trick to help the Black Maidens take a step closer to winning the ultimate prize.

Ashiaku’s first goal came in the 14th minute via a splendid solo effort, putting Ghana on the path to victory.

Ashiaku again latched onto a long ball from Latifa Abesik to round the Ivorian goalie and extend Ghana’s lead.

She completed her hat trick with a nice lob over the Ivorian goalie in the first half.

The Black Maidens continued their dominance after the break and got a fourth goal from Zipporah Ayantoya.

A wonderful free-kick from Seidatu Wahab secured the game for the Black Maidens, who have now qualified for the finals.

The Black Maidens will now play Nigeria, who defeated Benin in their game.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, December 22, 2024.
