The Black Satellites of Ghana had to settle for silver in the WAFU Zone B Championship after losing the final to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.

In the final game played at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé, Togo on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 to win the trophy.

The Flying Eagles were the more dominant of the two teams, with Kparobo Arierhi scoring the opener for Nigeria in the 35th minute.

The youngster finished off a great team move from the Nigerians to put them ahead, with the Ghanaian defence in absolute disarray.

Just before halftime, Kparobo Arierhi grabbed his second of the night to ensure that Nigeria went into the break with a 2-goal cushion.

The Black Satellites upped their game in the second half and probed for a goal back, but the Nigerians did well to repel the attacks.

Jerry Afriyie, however, did well to breach the Nigerian defense in the 76th minute, which fueled the Ghanaians to probe for a possible equalizer.

They, however, could not mount a successful comeback as the game ended 2-1 in favor of the Flying Eagles.

Ghana secured a place in the 2025 Africa Under-20 Championship by defeating Ivory Coast in the semi-final of the WAFU Zone B Championship.

Ghana’s Jerry Afriyie was also adjudged the best player of the tournament.
