The Black Satellites of Ghana secured a place in the semi-final of the WAFU Zone B Under-20 championship on Wednesday, October 24, 2024, after a 1-1 draw with Togo, the host country.
The Satellites, who have performed well in the tournament, confirmed their progression to the next phase with one win and two draws.
Ghana, who finished the group phase as the leader of Group A, drew 2-2 with Benin before beating Niger 2-0 in the second group game.
In the final group game, the Black Satellites managed to secure a draw to continue their stay in the tournament.
The qualification to the semi-final means that Ghana is one win away from qualifying for the Africa Under-20 championship.
With only two spots reserved for WAFU Zone B, Ghana will have to win their semi-final encounter to make it to Africa and stake a claim for a spot in the Under-20 World Cup tournament.
