The Under-20 side of Germany handed the Black Satellites of Ghana a 5-0 mauling in a friendly match played on Tuesday, October 14, 2024.

The game, which forms part of the preparation for the WAFU Zone B qualifiers, saw the Satellites concede four goals in the first 45 minutes.

Ilyas Ansah opened the scoring for the Germans in the second minute. Germany doubled their lead through Weiper in the 13th minute before Ansah grabbed his second of the day.

On the stroke of half-time, Bischof got the fourth goal for the Germans, who were head and shoulders above Ghana.

In the second half, Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei made changes to the side, and the performance improved, but Ghana could not mount a comeback or even get a consolation.

Mert Komur sealed the victory with the fifth goal in the 79th minute, handing Ghana an international humiliation.

The Black Satellites have been paired in Group A of the WAFU qualifiers and will be playing Togo, Benin, and Niger.

Ghana last won the U-20 AFCON in 2021 but missed out on the 2023 edition, which was won by Senegal.
