Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Satellites, were held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo in their opening Group C clash at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt on Friday, May 2, 2025.

DR Congo took an early lead through captain Samuel Ntanda-Lukisa, who headed home a well-placed cross in the 15th minute.

However, the Black Satellites responded quickly, with Dreams FC youngster, Musibau Aziz, equalising just ten minutes later after connecting with a sharp delivery from Emmanuel Mensah.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half, creating several chances, but lacked the clinical edge in front of goal.

Abdul Hakim Sulemana, who was instrumental in Ghana’s midfield, was named Man of the Match for his standout performance.

The result leaves Group C wide open after Senegal and the Central African Republic also played to a 1-1 draw in the group’s other game.

Ghana now prepares for a crucial clash against reigning champions, Senegal, on Monday, May 5, 2025.
