Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain played a UEFA Champions League knockout classic in a thrilling quarter-final second-leg game on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Villa, who lost the first leg, showed resilience and won the second leg by beating PSG 3-2, but ultimately lost the tie on aggregate.

The visitors took the lead through Achraf Hakimi in the 11th minute and seemingly put the tie to bed in the 27th minute after Nuno Mendes doubled the lead, giving the French side a 5-1 advantage on aggregate.

Villa refused to go out without a fight, with Youri Tielemans reducing the deficit before halftime.

The English side scored two quick goals after the break to further reduce the margin to one, raising hopes of a remarkable comeback.

However, PSG remained resolute and managed to sail through to the semi-finals with a narrow 5-4 win on aggregate.

The Ligue 1 champions will face the winner of the quarter-final tie between Real Madrid and Arsenal.
