Ghana’s swimmers delivered a sensational performance on day two of the 2025 Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Swimming Championships, thrilling home fans at the Borteyman Sports Complex with a flurry of medals and record-breaking swims on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

The host nation continued its golden run, showcasing depth and dominance across both junior and senior categories.

The highlight of the day came in the Mixed 400m Freestyle Relay (Seniors), where Team Ghana won gold, extending their impressive form from day one.

In the individual events, Jada Yankey made waves in the Women’s 400m Freestyle (Juniors), securing a silver medal after an intense race that drew loud cheers from the crowd.

Her resilience and pace underscored the growing promise of Ghana’s next generation of swimmers.

Ghana’s men were equally outstanding in the freestyle and butterfly events. Stacey Harry grabbed the gold medal in the Men’s 100m Freestyle, before teaming up with Abeiku Jackson in the 50m Butterfly, where Jackson stormed to gold and Harry clinched silver, completing a Ghanaian one-two finish.

The women’s category also brought its share of glory as Joselle Mensah bounced back from her bronze finish on day one to take gold in the 50m Breaststroke (Seniors), edging out her Nigerian rival in a fiercely contested final.

With medals flowing and morale soaring, Ghana’s swimmers have firmly positioned themselves among the region’s elite.

The three-day event concludes on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
