Ghanaian teenager Hafiz Gariba delivered an impressive performance despite Barcelona U19’s 2–0 defeat to Club Brugge in the UEFA Youth League on November 5, 2025.

The defeat to Club Brugge was Barcelona U19’s first defeat of the 2025/2026 season across all competitions.

Goals from Jensen and Van Bristom were enough to derail the Catalans, who had previously won every match in both Europe and the domestic league, except for one draw.

Despite dominating much of the match and creating more chances, Barcelona suffered their first setback of the season.

Gariba stood out in the match, providing solidity in defense by making crucial tackles and intercepting passes to prevent further goals.

Another notable aspect of his performance was his ability to distribute passes from the back, supporting both the midfield and attack in pushing forward.

Reports indicate that his outstanding performances have attracted the attention of Barcelona club officials, and he could be invited to join the senior team in the near future.

Gariba began his football journey with Zinaps FC in Ghana before further developing at Villarreal CF Africa and the Marcet Soccer Academy in Spain.

It was during his time at Marcet that Barcelona scouts identified his potential and recruited him.
