Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene and Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi were visibly unhappy after Accra Hearts of Oak scored against Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash.

Both the minister and the mayor, dressed in Kotoko jerseys, were seated and enjoying the game. However, after Baba Adamu scored with a looping header, their expressions turned moody, showing clear disappointment.

Fans of Hearts of Oak around them began jubilating, while the minister placed his hand on his mouth in dismay before turning to his phone to avoid the celebrations.

The two officials had taken the game seriously, having visited the Kotoko team at their training grounds earlier to motivate them to win and make the region proud.

The victory sees Hearts move within five points of league leaders Medeama and remain in contention for the title as they sit second on the table, while Kotoko remain outside the top four.

The Porcupine Warriors were aiming for redemption after their recent poor run of form, which led to the resignation of head coach Karim Zito.

Both Kotoko and Hearts headed into the clash nursing disappointment following early exits in the FA Cup Round of 64, a rare and frustrating chapter for Ghana’s two biggest clubs.
