Estêvão and Cucurella celebrating the goal Estêvão and Cucurella celebrating the goal

Chelsea’s teenage sensation Estêvão may have applied the finishing touch, but the story of his 96th-minute winner against Liverpool was scripted long before the ball hit the net.

It was crafted through one of the most intricate team moves Stamford Bridge has witnessed all season.

What began as a routine goal kick from Robert Sánchez turned into a masterclass in composure and precision.

Ten of Chelsea’s eleven players touched the ball in a flowing move that stretched Liverpool’s press, carved open their defensive shape, and ended in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.

Sánchez started the build-up with a short pass to Jorrel Hato, who calmly found captain Reece James.

The skipper switched play to Malo Gusto, whose quick exchange with Moisés Caicedo invited pressure from Liverpool’s front line.

But instead of panicking, Caicedo threaded a clever pass into Romeo Lavia, the key moment that broke Arne Slot’s press.

Lavia spotted Marc Cucurella free on the left and released him into space. The Spaniard surged forward, combining with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens before finding Enzo Fernández near the edge of the box.

Enzo’s deft one-two with Cucurella sliced through Liverpool’s retreating line, allowing the full-back to deliver a low cross into the six-yard area.

Waiting at the far post was Estêvão, just 18 and already a rising star, who bundled home the winner to seal a 2–1 victory and send Stamford Bridge into delirium.
