The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, prayed in Hebrew ahead of the Super Clash in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

During Wontumi FM’s sports programme, he took part in a discussion after the host, Fancy Di Maria, referenced the upcoming clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko scheduled for February 13, 2026, in Kumasi.

Upon hearing about the match, Chairman Wontumi asked to pray for the game but chose to do so in Hebrew, delivering the prayer in an amusing manner.

During the prayer, he said, “So let me pray in Hebrew…(prayer in Hebrew language) in the name of Jesus, Amen.”

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman is a known fan of Asante Kotoko and previously expressed his desire to take up a key role in the club’s future.

Both Kotoko and Hearts head into the encounter nursing wounds from early exits in the FA Cup Round of 64, a rare and disappointing chapter for the two biggest clubs in Ghana.

The Porcupine Warriors, backed by their passionate Kumasi supporters, will be eager to turn their frustrations into fuel as they seek to leapfrog their rivals on the league table.

After 21 matches, they trail Hearts by just a single point.
