A trader has been captured in a viral video retrieving cement blocks from a sack of cashew he presumably bought to resell on the market.

The video shared on TikTok on February 26, 2026, was accompanied by a caption which read, “Traders going to purchase cashew bags were amazed to find cement blocks concealed inside.”

Inaudible voices in the background of the video corroborate the shock expressed by the traders who were observing a fellow trader removing the cement blocks from the cashew sack.

Though the intention behind concealing the heavy blocks in the sack of cashew is unclear, the obvious reason could be to increase the weight of the cashew stock to attract a good price.

The situation, which exposes a growing concern about the integrity within farmer–trader transactions in Ghana’s agricultural sector, has since sparked widespread reactions online.

Netizens have indicated that such acts could erode trust, disrupt business relationships, and negatively impact the credibility of the local cashew trade.
